Once we finished at our house, we headed to Grammy's to help her dig out. We forgot about the governor's ban on travel until we were half-way there (oops!). The highway was nicely plowed, but it was slow going, and most driveways were still snowed in.
The sun came out in the afternoon, and it was a winter wonderland.
Yesterday was sunny and warm, so we played in the yard. One of the benefits of living on a hill is having your own ski slope (just watch out for trees!). Sarah and I went up and down, she on snowshoes and me on skis. After a little snow snack (why couldn't she pick a clean spot?), we dug a snow cave beside the front walk.
Fortunately, no one in my family suffered anything worse than sore muscles from the storm. My sister got more than two feet at her house, and they spent most of the day clearing the yard. As of yesterday, my uncle's street in southern Connecticut, where they had 40", still hadn't been plowed, but he was happily snowed in with plenty of food, books, and DVDs.
Alas, this morning we had sleet and freezing rain, so things are a slushy mess, and the snow has a crust on it. You have to seize the day when it comes to snow conditions in New Engl*nd.
