Turning Eight (Again and Again)

Sarah turned eight at the end of July. With a joint party with my mom on the 23rd and a friends party on the 30th, she managed to keep the celebration going for more than a week.

The family party....

You can't go wrong with my mom's potato salad,
Chelsey's fruit/veggie salad, and Don's grilled chicken.

George, Kelley, Brian, Karli (Sam's girlfriend), Sam,
and a sliver of Sarah (we missed Forrest,
who was working, and, of course our angel, Heshy)

Sarah and Little Lamb with the raspberry-
chocolate chip cake I made for my mom

Sarah requested a Hello Kitty ice cream cake.

The Huntleys gave Sarah a big purple octopus kite!

The day itself (the 25th)....

Birthday greetings

Custom gymnastics return-address labels
(with matching notecards) from Mom and Dad

A Shopkins set from the Rodriquezes

Playing a new computer game with her best bud, Nick

She knew right away what this was...

...and put it right to use.

Her favorite dinner -- tofu noodle bowl

And leftover cake
The day after....

Big Sister Rachel was a hero when the
UV Thinking Putty arrived in the mail.

The friends party....

Instead of gifts, each girl brought cake mix, frosting,
and candles for a Birthday-Cake-in-a-Bag for
the local food pantry.

Don led outdoor games (and June lost a tooth!).

Snack on the porch

And cupcake decorating!
