No more little girl here. I even bought her her first cold-shoulder shirt for the big day (although I predict that 20 years from now, she'll look at the photo and groan at the silly style). She chose to wear the locket that I made for her first day of kindergarten -- with a photo of the three of us tucked inside -- which warmed my heart. She earned the smashing new backpack in the library's summer reading program!
Sarah had a good first day and likes her new teacher, Ms. Joyce. She's glad to have all of her friends back in one class again, after being split in two last year. She came home with the sneaking suspicion that fifth grade is going to be harder, and less fun, than fourth, however. We shall see....
