A Muted Welcome for the Year of the Ox

As with everything else, Chinese New Year was different this year. It was just the three of us, and we missed our traditional big family gathering. I baked almond cookies, and Sarah and I made dumplings. We ordered lo mein and chicken wings from our local restaurant, and I roasted broccoli and cauliflower. Sarah and I dressed for dinner, and it felt strange to be gussied up. We had the cookies and ginger ice cream for dessert while watching Wall-E.

After being tricked by the Rat, we will need the Ox's strength and persistence to get through this pandemic. May we all be together to welcome the kind and benevolent Year of the Tiger.
