The Year of the Rabbit began on January 22, but we scheduled our family dinner for the 28th to avoid conflicting with the NFL playoffs. Sarah and I made meat dumplings on Martin Luther King Day, and Don pitched in, as well. He made the veggie ones on his own the next day!
We resumed our full annual family dinner for the first time since covid. As with most things, it wasn't the same as before the pandemic. The virus wasn't really to blame, however; the nephews have just grown up and moved on, at least for this year. Kelley is in northwest Georgia attending line-workers school (he went to UMaine for a semester last year but wasn't happy), so I sent him a box of almond cookies. Sam was in Boston with his girlfriend, and Forrest had other plans.
So, it was rather low-key, with Mom, George, and Brian. It was no less auspicious, however. Good food and good company set us on a promising course for 2023.
