The Technicolor Time of Year

It's been a lovely fall, and we've done our best to appreciate it.

One day last week, when Sarah had the afternoon off from school, we visited Sk*nner State Park, about 15 miles from home.  We drove to the top of Mt. H*lyoke, where we ate lunch on the porch of the Summit House, a former hotel. The 360 degree view of the C*nnecticut River Valley was breathtaking.

If you click on this photo, you can make out Springfield, MA,
just below the horizon to the left, and Hartford, CT,
on the horizon to the right.

A rainbow in the distance (perhaps over our house?)

In mid-October, each time I drove down our hill into town, I enjoyed this stunning sugar maple in front of the library, first from above, then face-to-face .

Earlier in the month, we hiked the trail on the conservation land across from our house on a crisp fall day.

And then there was the show in our own yard, which started in mid-September and continues on.
