Sarah and I have been keeping busy with our Daisy Girl Scout troop. The Cookie Sale just ended. Sarah sold cookies at church, in front of the local market (on a single-digit-degree day), to family, and to Mom's friends. She wasn't quite as motivated to peddle cookies as she was nuts and candy. Going door-to-door during winter (especially this winter) is a lot less enjoyable than in fall. She did, however, sell 24 boxes to be donated to a local soup kitchen. I'm very proud of her for this.
The troop has been working on their Welcome to the Daisy Flower Garden Journey since October. They've learned about gardening, different cultures, and the Girl Scout Law. For their community service project, they chose to plant an herb garden for a local senior-apartment complex.
They celebrated completion of the journey with a garden party last Monday. They presented the herb garden to some of the apartment residents and received their journey patches, along with some financial leaf patches they earned as part of the cookie program, and some cookie fun patches for good measure. Sarah loves being a Daisy but is getting excited about bridging to Brownies in June.

Way to go, Sarah! You are well on your way to becoming a future community activist, philanthropist and volunteer,. Your family is now and will be very proud of you - wherever the future takes you and whatever road you follow.
