Although we weren't sure what animal we were welcoming in for 2015, we celebrated anyway. It seems the Chinese zodiac character for this year can be translated as "sheep," "goat," or "ram," so take your pick. I'm going with goat, since I think they're much brighter than sheep (sorry, Grammy, I know you loved your sheep).
We had our family New Year dinner on February 19th. I think we have all come to look forward to this occasion.
The next week, Sarah and I taught her first grade class about the holiday. She was proud to share her knowledge about her birth culture. The kids enjoyed making red envelopes (hong bao) and filling them with play money.
Gong xi fa cai! (May you have a prosperous new year!)
