Last weekend, Emily, Omar, Sophia, and Omarcito came to visit. It's always such fun to have a full house. Makes the house cozier, somehow.
They arrived Thursday afternoon, and Emily and Omar left for a side trip to Vermont and Canada the next morning. Sarah's class went on a field trip to the Quabbin Reservoir that day, and Sophia and I went along. We lucked out with a sunny, but brisk, day.
Meanwhile, Don and Omarcito spent some time on the trail in the backyard, then went to Chapel Falls, the DAR State Forest, and to visit my mom.
On Saturday, it was raining once again (typical for this fall!). We went to a Halloween party at a local business, and the kids decorated cookies and painted pumpkins. Later on, we carved pumpkins. Kudos, once again, to Don, who always seems able to finesse the projects I find overwhelming.
Emily and Omar had a change of plans Saturday night, when the carbon monoxide detector at their Airbnb went off. They drove back from Vermont, arriving around midnight. Abby proved herself an excellent guard dog, as she barked at the intruders from the safety of Sarah's bed. :)
Sunday morning, I took the kids to see Mister G's Halloween Fiesta in Northampton. In the afternoon, we made cupcakes and went for a drive to Chapel Falls (obviously one of our favorite spots this fall) and Ashfield. For dinner, Don fried fish that he and Sarah caught this summer.
