A Snowy Stay-cation

While others headed to warmer locations for school vacation, we stayed home and enjoyed the snow. We were lucky to get a good storm early in the week and took advantage of it.

On Monday, Sarah and I dropped Abby off at the groomer's and went for lunch at Subway (her favorite). Then, we hiked at Mass Audubon's Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary. We did their "Tree and Habitat Quest," which was challenging, educational, and fun!

On Tuesday, we cross-country skied at Notchview. Sarah hadn't been skiing in a couple of years, but she picked it up quickly (in spite of my less-than-expert instruction). It was a gorgeous day in a gem of a location.

I was pleased with how much Sarah enjoyed our outings. She often grumbles about going for a hike, but she didn't complain about either idea, and she said she had a good time. She also played in the snow with Abby a couple of times during the week.

I hope she will carry warm memories of winter into adulthood. Let's hope she doesn't have to tell her grandkids, "Back in my day, when we had snow...." :(
