Sarah turned six near the end of July. It was a three-day extravaganza. On her real birthday, she awoke to decorations and a few gifts.

Later in the morning, we went to Grammy's, where she received more gifts. A trip to the post office yielded yet more, from the Rodriguezes and Rachel...and a box for Nick to play in.
After dinner, she blew out the candle on a tiny cake and cut pieces for all of us.
On Saturday, she had her first "friends party," with nine kids from school. It was a pretty wild time, and I thought she would find it overwhelming, but she had a ball. By the time she opened presents, however, I could tell that she was maxed out emotionally.
| I put out pipe cleaners for the kids to craft with. They seemed just as popular with the parents. |
| Don created a scavenger hunt in our yard. He was a stickler and made the kids earn their prizes of pretzels or M&Ms. |
On Sunday, we were partying again, this time with Grammy (whose birthday is a couple of days before Sarah's) and the family.
