Settling In to Second Grade

School started on August 31 this year -- the first time it's ever begun before Labor Day in this region.  No complaints from us, however!  We were all happy to get back to the routine.  Sarah loves school, and although it's taken a few weeks to warm up to her new teacher, she proclaimed on Monday that she loves Mrs. K and made her a pony bead kitten key chain as a gift.

Sarah's bus driver is infamously erratic in picking her up.
On the first day, he showed up 10 minutes early.  I had
to take a quick photo, which, unfortunately, did not
 come out well.

At the school open house a couple of weeks ago, Sarah escorted Don and me around her classroom with a clipboard and checklist of notable attractions.  She was all business.  With the addition of four new students this year, Sarah's class has grown from 11 to 20 since the beginning of kindergarten.

Sarah counts her brothers-in-law as brothers,
hence the three brothers.  Wanting to be a
librarian is a recent development --
perhaps a reflection of her new-found love
of reading.  I'm sure my Auntie K approves!
