On Saturday, Sarah and I helped get out the vote for Hillary. Since Massachusetts is a dark blue, Democratic state, we drove to Keene, New Hampshire. There, we gathered in the field office for training and were surprised by a visit by Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey (who's been in Congress since 1976).
Clipboard and supporter list in hand, we headed out to knock on doors and encourage people to go to the polls on Tuesday. Unfortunately, our list was mostly student apartments in old houses (we were near Keene State University), so we didn't get to talk with any actual voters. We did a lot of walking, though, and left a lot of information on door knobs.
I'd like to think we made a tiny difference and that New Hampshire will go for Hillary on Tuesday. Regardless of the election outcome, though, it was a great experience for both of us, and we celebrated doing our civic duty with milkshakes on the way home. Now all we can do is pray that we had a part in electing the first woman to the White House.
