Last week, Sarah's school had its annual Harvest Feast. Each class made something using ingredients grown in the school garden, and families brought dishes created with local produce. The kindergarteners made pickles using the cucumbers and dill they'd planted over the summer. (I volunteered to help, and it was a nerve-wracking experience, even though they were using pumpkin-carving knives to slice the cucumbers.) The feast was grand, though -- a beautiful community event.
